COMMENTS ON COOPERATIVE LEARNING PRESENTATIONS - Marta

  • MUSICAL CHAIRS (Irene, Bea, Ayperi, David)
Musical Chairs were the first group on making the presentation so the y started with a very good definition of cooperative learning. They added that in cooperative learning is necessary that the teacher know their students. Then, making reference to group work they told that the teacher was a guide and children were the ones who had to work in teams and try to meet each other.

The activity proposed by this group was about creating a box decorated with the characteristics of a country that they gave us. After decorating the box the group had to explain to the class why did they decorated the box with those pictures, words, etc. It was a good activity as every group learned from the other groups.

In conclusion, the oral presentation was well structured and contents were clear. The activity was enjoyable and interesting as it was a very cooperative task.

  • AMIGOS DEL FÚTBOL (Sandra, David, Melike, Çisem)
In relation to the proposal of the structure and the content I think they were appropriate and relevant to the text but not much worked. Talking about the communicative factor of the presentation differences between group members were seen, and I could also appreciate who had worked more and who less on the document and making the presentation.

The activity proposed by this group was "El blanco y la diana". This activity was about dividing the target according to the number of members who were in the group. In every area of the target each member of the group had to put some of its own characteristics (name, favourite colour, musical style, hobbies, etc.). The objective of this activity was to observe the similarities and differences that could be found between the different members of the group and know the characteristics of the people with whom you are working.

In conclusion, from my point of view I consider that the presentation was good but there was no internal organization in the group and they should have worked better the document so the contents wouldn’t have been explained in such a literal way, as it came in the document we all read. Talking about the activity I consider is a good way of knowing each other and as this group said, I should do this activity at the beginning of the course because is when we have the first contact with people we don’t know yet.

  • TEAM PERK (Sara, Javi, Irina, Silvia)
In relation to the proposal of the structure and the content I think they have done a good work. The presentation was well organised and the contents were related to the document we read about cooperative learning.  Talking about the communicative factor the speeches were equilibrated, no one talked a lot more than others and I could appreciate that they all worked on the document and creation of the presentation as everybody knew the organisation of it.

The activity performed by this group was about stablishing class and group rules. We had to pass the ball between the members of our team and say a rule. In the end, every group had to say the rules that they remembered. This is a good way of learning rules as it is funny and everybody takes part and can contribute with its own rules.

This group gave some good new ideas such as the concept of microsociety in the class and a different way of class distribution.  When they talk about microsociety they were explaining that it was better to heterogeneous groups so in each group there wold be different characteristics, as in our current society. Regarding to class distribution, they suggested a circular way so every children in the class could face the others and the teacher could be in the centre of the circle. This joins the group and makes everybody to take part in class issues.

  • CRÓNICAS VIAJERAS (Elvira, Miguel Carazo, Amaya, Zule)
In relation to the proposal of the structure and the content I think they were well structured. The oral presentation was well done and everybody spoke more or less the same time.

This group told us two new ideas that I liked a lot. The first idea was that the first day of class we are all like passengers of a flight because we all have different characteristics but the same destiny, so then we have one thing in common.  In their second idea they focused the rules as something that we keep with us in the flight and other things that we have to leave at home (as there are rules that forbid things and others that allow). For example, we have to leave at home disrespect, selfishness and we have to carry with us kindness, help the others, commitment, etc.

The activity done by this group was enjoyable as we had to bring something that represented a good memory we had about something and tell that experience to the members of our group. This activity is a good way of approaching to others asyou are telling them something more personal than your name, favourite colour, music style, etc.

  • DUMBLEDORE TEACHER'S ARMY (Gema, Gonzalo, María Schnell, Ada)
In relation to the proposal of the structure and the content I think they weren’t well structured. The oral presentation was every confusing, organization between the members was not sawn, the contents were unclear and not much worked up to the point in which I had a mix of unclear ideas in my head and I didn’t knew about what were they talking about.

The activity done by this group consisted on filling in a questionnaire. We had to make the questions of the questionnaire to our partner so in this way we were meeting each other.

In conclusion, I didn’t get anything new from this group and I didn’t really enjoy the presentation as there were a lot of interruptions of classmates and even the teacher making questions and trying to clarify what they were saying.

  • MODERN STUDENTS (María Encinas, Borja, Elia, Patricia)
In relation to the proposal of the structure and the content I think they were well structured as most of the groups. The presentation was simple but complete despite they present a scheme it was quite complete and presented new ideas.

What I will highlight about the presentation of this group were the tips for the teacher. Not many groups took into account that learning is not only on children but also on the teacher, as he/she has to help and guide students at first. In addition to this, they also talked about some difficulties which cooperative learning. Their activity was about sticking stickers in our foreheads and going around the class until we found our team.

In conclusion, this presentation was quite good as they presented new ideas and their activity was original.

  • WANDERLUST (Belén, Sara Mora, Miguel González)
In relation to the proposal of the structure and the content I think they have done a good work. The presentation was well organised and the contents were related to the document we read about cooperative learning.

The idea proposed by this group was to use more visual things in the class so the students will learn better what cooperative learning is about and that is why they did those fantastic videos. They also focus on learning techniques and the different types of groups. Their activity was about summarizing what all the groups which presented before them enjoyed most.

In conclusion, it was a fantastic work as it was quite different t the others. As they were the last group presenting they were intelligent and took feedback from the other presentations to do their own better. They get it!
